Agreeing to these terms

By creating an account or using SmolGroup, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

Who can use it

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you're under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian is okay with you using SmolGroup.

Your account

• Give your real name and an email address you can receive mail at.
• Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
• Tell us at info@smolgroup.org if you think someone else has got into your account.

If you run a church here

By starting a church, or accepting the leader or admin role in one, you confirm that:

• you have your church's permission to manage its information on SmolGroup
• you'll only add information about people for your church's own purposes, with their knowledge, and you'll correct or remove it when they ask
• for children, you have a parent or guardian's permission, and you'll keep their information to what's needed
• care notes will be respectful and appropriate. Write them as if the person might one day read them.
• you'll only approve people you recognize, and remove access when someone leaves
• you'll follow the privacy laws that apply to your church

Your church is responsible for the information it puts into SmolGroup and for how its leaders use it.

Songs, scripture and other copyrighted material

Song lyrics, chord charts and most modern Bible translations are protected by copyright. SmolGroup gives you tools to store and display them, but no license to do so. Your church is responsible for having the right permissions, such as a CCLI license for projecting song lyrics, and for following each Bible publisher's terms for quoting their translation.

What you can't do

• use SmolGroup for anything illegal, or to harass, threaten or harm anyone
• create fake churches, or pretend to be a church or person you're not
• send spam, or collect information from SmolGroup to use elsewhere
• upload viruses or anything else harmful
• try to get into other churches' information, other people's accounts, or parts of the service you haven't been given
• overload, attack or interfere with the service

If you find a security problem, please tell us at info@smolgroup.org instead of using it.

Your content

Everything your church puts into SmolGroup belongs to your church. You give us permission to store, process and display it only as needed to run the service for you. We don't claim any ownership of it.

Suspending or closing accounts and churches

You can leave a church, delete your account from your account page, or (as a church admin) delete your church from its settings, at any time. We may suspend or remove an account or a church that breaks these terms or puts others at risk. Where we reasonably can, we'll explain why first and give you a chance to put things right.

The service is free and provided as-is

SmolGroup is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We work to keep it running and your information safe, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free or never lose data. Please keep your own copies of anything important, for example by exporting your directory now and then.

We may change or remove features over time. Church admins can download all of their church's information at any time from Church settings. If we ever plan to shut SmolGroup down, we'll give church admins at least 30 days' notice so they can do so.

Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, arising from your use of SmolGroup. Because the service is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to US$50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you have a concern, please email us first. Most things can be sorted out with a conversation.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll let church admins know by email or on the site before they take effect. Continuing to use SmolGroup after a change means you accept the new terms.
